TUM's Garching campus is conveniently connected to downtown Munich via subway line U6. The TUM campus is the final stop on this line (called "Forzungszentrum"). The physics building is located about 500 m north of the station.
Coming from the airport there are two options:
- Take train S8 towards Herrsching and transfer in Ismaning to bus 230 with destination Garching Forschungszentrum
- Take train S1 towards Ostbahnhof and transfer in Neufahrn to bus 690 with destination Garching Forschungszentrum
Both options take about 40 minutes. For planning your journey, use the MVV website (also available in English) for time tables and for the most up-to-date information
The campus is easily reached via the A9
- Coming from Munich on A9 towards Neurenberg, take exit 70 Garching-Nord. Take a right at the light and follow the signs to the "TUM Forschungszentrum".
- Coming from Neurenberg (or from the airport) on A9 towards Munich take exit 70 Garching-Nord. Take a left at the light and follow the signs to the "TUM Forschungszentrum".
Keep following this road (it becomes Ludwig-Prantl-Str. and after the left turn, Bolzmannstr.). At the end take a right and immediately a left turn (again Bolzmannstr.). The James-Franck-Str. with the main entrance to the physics building is on the right. However parking here is tight. More parking space can be found behind the building. To reach these, drive past the James-Franck-Str. and continue a bit more on the Bolzmannst. To the right you will find more parking spaces.
